please get well. i need you around man.
i hear you shavar! and i agree.
in retrospect, i don't mind joy posting what she did (although at first i was not terribly excited about her doing so) -- keeping it in the open can help me get my butt in gear. :)
cheers

Peace.
however, you make a GREAT POINT...i happen to be in an area where there's an opportunity i didn't have before...a *plethora* of great hiking areas.
perhaps TJ will find it in his heart to slow down for me enough to take me on a few. ;-)
joy--no apology needed.
thanks Tara, and thanks sherwin! in a few months i'll be flossing with what i'm sure everyone wants to see (lol) -- self portraits!

Now whatever you do ask your doctor first. Get a plan you can sustain sustainability is the key. Set short term goals firs (mine was one pant size - I’ve dropped from 48-42 and they are loose. Then focus on your son's wedding day or whatever out their in the distance goal. Then get real be a long distance brother... Regardless of your immediate situation this stuff is cumulative you are buying into a life time of pain if you keep it up, trust me your heart will be the least of it…. Carrying around extra weight takes a toll on your entire body… when I said hurt I mean hurt…. Your body will nickel and dime you to death. Get on a program that you can feel good about tailor it to what you can deal with. Then if you backslide… let the church say amen… get back on the path… AMEN!
MUCH LOVE… We are rooting for you! You will be in our prayers. You are a very brave man to put this out here. It is a lesson we all need to heed

it's good to read about your experience. that's a great feeling being able to see your clothes get bigger!
i like this one
when i initially lost my 80lbs and was exercising regularly (about 7 years ago now! dang), i really didn't realize how much i was benefitting myself...it was more than just "looking better"!
man, it's hard to make those major lifestyle changes... (especially when it's something that you've already done once and you know better... I am so guilty of this time and time again!)... but life gets in the way... work and kids... I know how it is. nothing will motivate you like your health, though. I mean, it's great to have the motivation to look good (my twenties!) but when your health is on the line, you can really get serious... my mom had a health scare a couple of years back. she had been battling her weight for years but it was that scare that motivated her to get right. I'm finding that my body is a little less forgiving now that I've hit my thirties and I'm trying so hard to be proactive and establish good habits... but it's SO HARD. like I said, life gets in the way and it is such a struggle.
know that you're not alone in this struggle and know that we'll be praying for you.
HECK YES I'LL SLOW DOWN....you'll have to call the blog 'Hikin' Brother' before long! :)
Hope to see you guys later this week.
TJ
Stay up man! I'll throw a few extra prayers to the one in charge.
Why is it so hard for us humans to swallow the idea that eating right and exercising is what our bodies need? But it just is hard. No two ways about it.
After I got healthy after chemo I lost 50lbs on Atkins. I've gained back about 5. I want to lose 35 more lbs. But it's hard, oh yes it is! The motivation? I just didn't want to spend even one more day of my "prob'ly gonna be short-ass life" not looking how I wanted to look, not feeling how I wanted to feel. At some point you simply have to say to yourself, "Today is the last day I will ever look like this, or feel like this."
Ya, I'm glad you're okay, and that it wasn't anything that was going to kill you (today). Yay! Another chance!
Blend up a combination of Cayenne, Hawthorne Berries, and Garlic powder and put it into some capsules. That plus drinking LOTS of good water has done wonders for my former chest pains.
Also, less meat (or none at all) BUT, plenty of fresh fruits and veggies go along way toward bringing your body toward full health and recovery. The weight will just melt off. It's a life style thing/choice.
Take care of yourself!
Blessings await you!! :-)
